The criminal case against Atlantic City’s mayor, schools superintendent and high school principal was about politics not justice, a lawsuit filed this week alleges. According to BreakingAC.com, Atlantic County Prosecutor William Reynolds knew the claims of abuse made by Mayor Marty Small’s teenage daughter were false, but “seized the opportunity” to conspire with “certain Republican politicians” in an attempt to unseat Small and take away the power of the three black Democratic leaders based upon political affiliation and race, the 17-page filing states. The three-count civil suit filed by the mayor’s father-son criminal defense team of Lou and Jordan Barbone cites selective enforcement, civil rights violations and malicious prosecution.
